Our Story

Hi, I'm Carla - the founder of Soul Skin. This is me, in a yoga pose wearing the first Soul Skin and a hat I made for AfrikaBurn. Can you tell I'm happy?

I'm the creator, designer, marketer, copyrighter and everything in betweener for this little brand of mine. This brand is my DNA. It's my passion project. It's proof that you can do anything you set your mind to.

I've always had a lot of ideas. People would come to me asking for my opinion on their ideas, and I'd always respond saying "Just do it no-one else is going to".

Wow Carla, how utterly hypocritical of you! You haven't done anything about any of your ideas - so how can you tell people to go and do theirs? 

So I picked one... and here it is : Soul Skin, a second skin for your soul. Front left at the yoga studio or front right on the dancefloor. Yoga / Party. You decide.

I take my hat off to everyone working hard to make their dream come true and the world a better place. It's tough out there people - but we miss 100% of the shots we don't take. If you are thinking about it- do it.

Nobody else is going to do it for you and you don't want to be that person in 5 years who says "that was my idea". An idea is only as good as its execution - na'mean.

THE BRAND 

I used to find yoga brands more exclusive than inclusive - I feel like a lot of the brand identities relate to a very specific wholesome lifestyle. Which is great - don't get me wrong. That may be me for a few days of the week -  but sometimes I'm not so wholesome. I am a human - I am complex. I am a good bitch and a bad bitch - it's okay to be both.

I want to promote balance in life: it's okay to get lit on a Friday and light incense candles on a Monday. You can still watch Netflix and be successful. You can be an introvert and an extrovert. You can be an angel with a devil inside. You can be happy as fuck and still want to cry.
